How Can I increase my vocabulary?

The most effective way to increase your vocabulary is to read. I know, that some people don't like to read. I know that some people read a page of the dictionary in their target language every day and are very successful at that.

If you are not a reader, I may have some alternatives for you, some FREE vocabulary trainers ... keep reading.

I give you a quick tip: it will be easier for you to study the terminology of the environment where you are.
For example, if you work in the school system with preschoolers or if you are parent of a preschooler ... read some magazines (go to the library) about parenting, day care system etc. in your target language instead of your native language. When, I was pregnant, I was looking some information about pregnancy and parenting in my target language instead of my native language.

I read the information in others languages and I participated to forums (allowing me to exercise my writing skills) ... I had a lot of fun doing that and at the same time, I built up my vocabulary and improved my writing skills.

It will be easier for you to memorize the words that you need to know at that very moment. If you enjoy sports, gardening, music or computer ... read magazines and books related to your passion. You will memorize easily, without frustration, the terminology related to the area that you like. Your vocabulary will increase tremendously that way.

You can also find a lot of vocabulary trainers online for free download. Google the keyword: "Vocabulary Trainers".

You can increase your vocabulary in your target language with the free program BYKI: Byki helps you to quickly memorize a large number of frequently-used words, stock phrases, and common expressions in the language you are learning:
