How to learn a foreign language without thinking of English in your head.?
Hi,I'm trying to learn French but am having a problem which I hope is just a normal thing and will go away after time. The problem is that when I say or read a French word I picture and say the word in English in my head. For example ....Le gar on mange The boy eat When I read 'Le' i will say 'The' in my head. I can picture a boy and eating in my head without saying it but words like 'The,and,is' for example I say in my head in English. How can I over come this.Hopefully you can understand what I am trying to ask lolAlso how can a gain a French accent. I am from New Zealand and the kiwi accent is sometimes hard for most other English speaking countries to understand. I can just imaging getting to the stage where I know French very well but still not making any sense because of my kiwi accent. Thanks

How to learn a foreign language?
I'm looking to learn a foreign language, but have no idea what steps I should take. The college I attend does not offer classes for the language I'm wanting to learn. I know there are things like Rosetta Stone and everything that teach languages.. but I'm not sure how accurate it is. I've heard that it doesn't really do a good job of helping you actually speak the language properly. I could always look in to trying to find a person who teaches the language... but I'm thinking that would be quite expensive. Are there any other ways I can learn a foreign language and in a way that I'll actually be able to effectively use it without sounding crazy ?
